The BlockchainGov Newsletter #8 | January Monthly Report
Happy 2024! BlockhainGov's monthly newsletter is back and we can't wait for you to follow up with our first news for the year! 2024 will be another rich year for our research project, now officially entered its second half!
I. Research
The main news of the month, as you may have seen on our social media channels (do you follow BlockchainGov on X?), was the publication of the Interim Report on Blockchain Governance Practices, in collaboration with Project Liberty. The report represents the first fruit of our multi-stakeholder governance initiative with Project Liberty. It investigates governance mechanisms and dynamics across 11 major blockchain networks including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cosmos, and Optimism. You really shouldn't miss it. Read it here.
Moreover, in early January Esen Esener, LL.M, LL.M published Adaptive Governance for Blockchain Networks, investigating the potential of adaptive governance to strengthen the legal resilience of blockchain networks. Can this frame help these networks to stay decentralized while adapting to regulatory changes? It is available in the Stanford Journal of Blockchain Law and Policy.
II. Podcasts
There's a new episode of the ongoing series Overthrowing The Network State featuring Ali Breland, who is a tech and politics journalist at MotherJones. In the episode, Ali discussed with Primavera and Josh about Praxis, its political ideology and the links between the Network State project and prominent far-right individuals. Listen to it at this link.
III. Misc
Primavera de Filippi was the January resident at GAZELL.iO, an art gallery in West London dedicated to new media, digital art, and NFTs. Primavera's work Plantoid was featured and discussed during this month. You can read more about it on the project's website.
There's enough material to keep you busy for some days... see you next month!
